Texas residents may have heard that Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are reportedly on the verge of ending their marriage of four years over allegations of infidelity on the part of Timberlake. It has also been speculated that Timberlake wants another baby, but that Biel wants to get back into acting, which may be harder if she had another child.
Timberlake has allegedly been having a relationship with Anna Kendrick who he starred with in the movie "Troll". The divorce is likely going to be involving significant assets, and it is believed that Biel will be the one who ultimately starts the proceedings. There is no word as to whether either side is seeking sole custody or whether either side is asking for child or spousal support after the marriage ends.
Parents who are going through a divorce may be wondering about the nature and extent of their parental rights after the case is settled. Although in the past it was fairly typical for courts to award primary physical custody to the mother with the father having certain visitation rights, the emerging trend is for the parents to share physical custody. Of course, this would not necessarily be the case if one of the parents had addiction issues or had a history of domestic violence.
One way that couples can take the decision out of the judge's hands is by them negotiating a parenting plan with the assistance of their respective family law attorneys. Parents who do not view custody disputes as battles to be won or lost but instead keep the best interests of their children at the forefront are likely to fare better.
